Thursday: Things I like this week

Here's a round up of the things I am loving this week.

Eggroll Plus is one of my favourite Chinese food restaurants here in Ottawa. They have delivery, so it's perfect for those lazy nights.

eos hand cream seems to be the only thing that is helping my winter chapped hands. And it smells amazing.

Litter Locker. A wonderful and easy way to store cat litter without it stinking up my place. I don't know how I lived without it.

 Pook Toque. These hats are soooo cute and I love how warm they are. My students love my hat!

Revenge has become my new favourite show! I am addicted and almost caught up!

My American Netflix account has let me discover new shows and has kept me company on lazy nights!

Thursday: Things I like this week

1. Babyliss Pro Hair Dryer. A few weeks ago my hair dryer exploded. It made a funny noise and then smoke started coming out. Kinda scary. I decided that it was time to invest in a good hair dryer. I usually buy my hair dryers from Walmart and don't often spend more than $30. This time around I went to Trade Secrets and picked up a Babyliss. I already have a Babyliss hair straightener, which I love, so I figured that the hair dryer would also be great. The sales girl told me that it would cut my drying time in half and that my hair would feel smoother. I didn't really believe her until I tried it out for myself. This is an amazing hair dryer!!




2. Roots Leather kobo Case. I picked this case up when I bought my kobo sat week and am loving it. It's such a stylish little case and it closes up great so my kobo doesn't fall out when I'm carrying it around.




3. Ombrelle Spray. Yesterday I was outside all day (in this crazy heat). I picked up this spray because it is easy to apply and doesn't clog up the pores on my face like other lotions do. It worked really well and I did not burn at all!




4. PC Roasted Vegetable and Cheddar Dip. I picked this up earlier this week when grocery shopping. I'm a sucker for new dips. This one is so tasty. I use it with plain chips as a snack or as a bagel spread. Delicious!




5. Air Conditioning. These past few days have been insanely hot. I don't have air conditioning at the school I work at and it's been long days working there in this heat. So thankful for the air conditioning in my apartment!




Cynthia Rowley Bed Spread in Ibiza Turquoise. I wanted to brighten up my room and to also get a light weight bed cover for the summer. Loving the colours of this bed spread!! And it's very comfy as well.

Thursday: Things I like this week - Book Haul

Today I made a stop at Chapters on my way home and picked up some books. I have been reading ebooks for the past little while and was missing holding real books. Chapters was having their buy 3 get 1 free sale so I could not resist! They also had a ton great bargain books!

 Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

I have started reading Cassandra Clare's first series the Mortal Instruments (City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls) and have loved the books I have read so far. I heard that this series is even better than that one (if that is even possible). I found Clockwork Angel for $4 so I picked up both today. I am excited to read this prequel series!

 Jeneration X by Jen Lancaster

I absolutely adore Jen Lancaster. Her books always make me laugh out loud. She is funny and witty and not afraid to say what's on her mind. I have loved her other memoirs and I am sure this one will not disappoint.

 Finding Monsieur Right by Muriel Zagha

This is one of my all time favourite girly books. I have it as an ebook but have been wanting a hard copy. I found this one for $4 on the bargain table and picked it up right away. I cannot wait to read this one again.

 The Book of (even more) Awesome by Neil Pasricha

The first one was great. So many of the items on his list were ones that made me say "oh ya! I love that too!" This is a fun book to read randomly when you need a pick me up.

 Fever by Lauren DeStefano

This is the second book in the Chemical Garden Trilogy. I have the first book Wither but have not read it yet but have heard so many great things about this series that I had to pick it up.

A Love Story in 781 Chapters by Aneva Stout

I read this book once while sitting in Chapters. It's short and very cute. This was for $2 on the bargain table and I had to pick it up!

Thursday: Things I like this week - Joe Fresh

I discovered the Joe Fresh brand of makeup at Loblaws recently. I was a little skeptical about buying any of the products because I had not heard a lot about them. So I did a little research and found that people are really liking them. Some things I bought yesterday that I am really liking are:

Joe Fresh Tinted Lip Balms. These are surprisingly quite moisturizing. They provide a subtle hint of colour. I bought a few of them and am loving each one. I'm hoping to eventually collect all shades.

Joe Fresh Eyeliners. I love self sharpening retractable eyeliners. I absolutely hate sharpening eye pencils and am always happy to find these types of eyeliners. There are many colours to choose from and some even have a bit of shimmer in them. Easy to apply and easy to remove.

Joe Fresh Nail Polish. These are 3 for $10! I had to pick up a few fun colours. My favourite is Twilight, which has shimmery pieces in it (pictured below).

Thursday: Things I like this week (food/drink)

Here are some of my favourite foods/drinks this week:




Yoplait Tropical. I love tropical fruits and with flavours like banana pineapple, coconut and raspberry lychee, these yogurts are addictive!! I love them with granola cereal in the morning.




Kikkoman Miso Soup. I'm a big fan of miso soup and will usually order a bowl when I'm out for sushi. I picked up this bag of miso soup from the grocery store the other day. It's quite good for an instant soup.




Orange Cranberry Raspberry Juice. I came across this yesterday while grocery shopping and decided to give it a try. My new goal is to try a different type of juice flavour every time I run out. So far I this is my favourite. Tangy and sweet.




Smarties. My guilty pleasure candy. I've been super stressed all week and have found myself reaching for these delicious chocolates. Someone needs to hide my stash.




Tetley White Tea Raspberry. This is the best tea ever!! I think I just love everything that has raspberry in it. I've been drinking this while curled up with a good book. A great way to end the day.

Thursday: Things I like this week

Here's what I'm loving this week:




Udderly Smooth Cream. Yep, this says udder cream on it. It is the formula they use on cow's udders. I laughed when I saw this cream and then I decided to give it a try. I love this stuff. It's a nice thick cream but it isn't greasy. I now carry a tube with me in my purse.




Il Divo. I have been listening to them a lot this week. They re coming to Ottawa in May and I am going. So excited. Love love love these guys. They made me rediscover opera music. And they aren't so bad to look at either!




President's Choice Cherry-Topped New York-style Cheesecake. I picked on of these up earlier this week and was having a hard time to finishing it all in one sitting. Love how smooth and creamy it is and the crust is also quite amazing. Yum!




Nivea Visage Pure & Natural. I've been looking for a less expensive face cream (I was using Philosophy's Keep the Calm cream). At just a fraction of the cost, this cream works just as well. It also smells great! You can find this at Walmart for $8.




Cuisinart Griddler. It's a grill, griddle and panini press all in one. I'm having way too much fun cooking with this. I especially love using it as a panini press and creating my own unique sandwiches.

Thursday: Things I like this week (furniture edition)

So I recently moved into a new apartment! So exciting!! Here is a roundup of little things I have put in my apartment that I love.

 Ikea bookcase. I bought 2 of these Hemnes bookcases and am loving them. They weren't much fun to put together but they hold a ton of books and I have room for quite a few more!

 Foldable Laundry Baskets. I love these.  They are so convenient for storing dirty laundry, clean laundry and I love that they fold up and take up zero space!

 Faux Leather Foldable Storage Ottomans. I got these from Bouclair Home. Easy to put together and comfortable to sit on. They are also great for storage space. I use them for spare blankets.

Kitchen-Aid Paper Towel Holder. One of the best paper towel holders I've used. And it's red...which matches all my cooking utensils!

Thursday: Things I like this week

Here is a round up of some of the things I really liked this week:

President's Choice Banana Cakes. These are so delicious. They are moist and they have chocolate chips and just amazing for snacking (and sometimes breakfast). Love these and I always have one with me when I'm out.

Bed Bath & Beyond. I am moving out (tomorrow!!) and am loving the sales and cute finds at this store. I picked up a lot for my kitchen and bedroom from there and also found a clock that I may pick up once I get settled in.

Stippling Brush. I recently discovered stippling brushes for foundation. Most days I do my makeup in 5 minutes before I head out the door. But if I want a more polished look, I use this brush with liquid foundation and I get an amazing airbrushed effect. There are some great YouTube tutorials on how to stipple on foundation properly.

Rogers PVR Cable Box. I am always busy with marking or lesson planning in the evening so I don't often get to catch my shows when they are on. I love my Rogers PVR box. I can record all my shows for the week and then have a lazy Saturday where I catch up. Another great thing about this...I can skip commercials!!

Sharpie Highlighters. I have become somewhat highlighter obsessed. I love highlighting completed items off a to-do list (so much nicer looking than crossing it out). I also love colour coding things in my planner so that I can quickly see what I need to do.
